I’m looking at getting into a new .22 semi auto rifle, specifically the Derya TM-22 but I’m worried about what will be banned or is on the list. Since it is an “AR” look-a-like rifle.. bit of a newbie, just looking for some more input on the situation in Canada with rimfire semi autos. Thanks

.22s are most likely going to be banned anyways, nothing is safe

The 10/22 is a super easy recommendation to make. Incredible customization, super reliable, and can still be had for a decent price. Because of its ubiquity as well, I expect any ban in the future that involves the 10/22 will have a lot of resistance, similar to the SKS.

I appreciate the input, more so looking for a tactical looking .22 like the TM22 I mentioned

There are like hundreds of aftermarket stocks to make the 10/22 look however you want, also unlike a Turkish gun you will be able to find replacement parts easily when stuff inevitably breaks. Only bad thing is you won't have the larger "tactical" looking mags, just the 10 round rotary. Also a base 10/22 is cheaper, still can be had for like $350 in canada.

IMO, a great option is the GSG-16 with the short barrel. I see it all the time and it looks awesome

It’s all about ammo. Just get high muzzle energy 22lr and it should cycle fine

If you search the sub you can find people who take the 10/22 full tactical.
