It's official MacGregor is off SECU.

I look forward to supporting @MPJulian in his work on #SECU and #C21 going forward and briefing him on the amendments we carefully crafted from witness testimony and submissions.

This is a huge blow. Any optimism I had about his amendments are gone. I'm back to just hoping for the largest delays, changes in the Senate, and an election.

What do we know about the new guy?

  • Extremely partisian NDP
  • Supports current handgun freeze
  • originally filed a motion to ask the house speaker rule the amendments out of order
  • appears to want to focus on ghost guns
  • is not MacGregor

Time to write more letters to NDP and comment on how fair MacGregor is?

At this point, they need to keep everything in check so you need someone to keep the bar up there.

What made MacGregor fair was not letters and phone calls, it was going to VFGPA. I really think that trip opened his eyes to the bullshit we were facing. Julian seems far more ideological so I can't see him actually doing that.

Then I hope MacGregor can convince Julian to do the same and go to VFGPA as well. Not to mention all the thing he proposed.

It's kind of sucks how precarious the situiation all depend on single position.

VFGPA isn't in Julian's constituency, so he would probably go to a Vancouver range. But even then, I don't think there is a break in Parliament schedule that will allow MP's to go back home before C-21 passed the house.

We just have to hope he introduces the amendments as MacGregor wrote them and doesn't undermine them.

Aww, that sucks, I hope they have their own discussion properly before going to the SECU meeting.

Then again, if that's was the case, they wouldn't need to remove MacGregor in the first place.
