Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

You’re able to apply up to six months prior to expiry, I recommend you do so. I applied in June when my licence expired in August, and I’m still waiting for my card after my renewal was approved six weeks ago

Sample size of one but I applied to renew a year early because some of my family have had long waits for the renewal and they processed it and sent me a new card last week.
