Gun and gear reviews Chimera 4 reload 4 reload 4

Ran it today another 200 rounds out of 400 total. So far it's been flawless. I tried to post a long-form video but this is not the place for that I guess. I'll try and post a couple of shorter ones.

Accurate at distance. The mag release is a little bit of a pain but once you get used to it you're going to be pretty quick.

The full disclosure I help run a three gun match in Ontario called Canadian Multigun Series - CMS. I'm just hoping I can find a rifle too make it through the season.

Plan on test firing a few of the other available semis I'll see if I can post the info here, once I have a comparison.

Unfortunately it won't let me post long or multiple videos....but I was doing 25, 50, 75 and 100 yard shots on a golf ball size group. I chose this video because any gun can do that...and it's boring to watch. The thing it can do all those other rifles can't is...shoot fast and swap mags.

If you like to see the whole video it's posted with a close up review on my Insta. @83shooter

What ammo does it like? My experience was flawless operation (with metal mags) but bad accuracy. The ammo was gobshite magtech 556 fmj 62gr that won't even print from a Tikka so... but from the Chimera it was like Ray Charles got his PAL

Which ammo specifically (grain, etc.)? I know that doesn't mean it'll produce the same results but I'm curious.

Mine likes Federal and PMC 55gr, I tried a box of Remington UMC 55gr, but it was a bad lot, out of 50, about 20 were overseated and another 20 had chipped tips, which didn't make for good feeding, the other 10 were somewhat ok, but never gave them another chance after that box. I bought a case of the PMC Bronze and so far, about 8 boxes gone down range without a hitch. Although not super accurate (could very well be me.) I'm getting about 3-4" groups at 100y off a rest. I'll double check my scope mounts next time as it wasn't mounted not too long ago as well

There are 3 rifles - Chimera, Alcor and Backland

Well, technically there are more if you’re willing to get really obscure and in some cases creative.

I think there's a couple in the 10k or $12k range too... But you got to have a lot of money to waste to buy that now

No that's a different one out in BC. The one you're looking for has several different social media accounts:

https://grgc.ca/3-Gun
https://www.instagram.com/cms.3gun/?hl=en
https://www.facebook.com/CanadianMultigunSeries/

Oh okay, can you link your website? I’m interested in doing 3 gun in Ontario and it’s hard to find groups accepting new members

The links are in my comment

What other semi's are you considering? Im debating on a mag fed 308 garand if not just a 308 garand

No in classic Canadian fashion that's another Multi Gun comp with a similar name. They are in BC. Great guys but I think they shut down last year. Hope they get back up for 2026.

You can find us at @cms.3gun on Instagram

What stock you have on your chimera?

2

u/Livid-Basket-9193 Mar 22 '26

It's the federation firearms stock.... I have talked to a buddy of mine who owns a CNC about building a stock adapter so we could put mag pull or similar, pistol grips and stocks on.

Those would sell like wildfire, along with an M-lok full wrap around fore end that would go 1/2-3/4 of the way down the barrel. If he could make them to order he would have work for quite a while.

I have the tommy enterprises front stock...it's all MLok.. It's made Polymer though so I'm not sure about its durability... to be determined

u/Active-Classroom3474 Mar 25 '26

Do you have more photo of the gun with this stock?

1

u/Livid-Basket-9193 Mar 25 '26
