Misc Aluminum SKS Chassis Release!
Hey all, we've been working on this project for about a year, and are proud to announce it been released in retail! Available in Black, FDE, and ODG Cerekote.
Like and follow us on Instagram @crookednorthcustoms for special announcements.
And yes, marketing is now well aware of how we feel about the AI "enhancement" of the concept photo, which is in fact a real build.

700 man tf? I really want a different look from my ati stock but it does everything I want already for a fraction of these metal chassis.
4
u/Quirky-Delivery-3236 Apr 13 '26
It really doesn’t you can’t mount a optic on it the Fab defence is the best SKS stock the ATI has a shit grip that isn’t big enough for my hand and my hand rubs against it the archangel stock is better

u/__phil1001__ Apr 12 '26
How does the scope mount? It's sad we are left with customizing SKS out of desperation
7
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
The one pictured is mounted on the supplied mini PIC accessory rail. I suggest using a one piece rail for any higher powered optics.

u/No-Transportation843 Apr 12 '26
The scope pictured is getting spent brass flung into it every single shot fired.
2
u/Hour-Wallaby9515 Apr 12 '26
my scope on my build and no it is not, you are welcome to join me at the range anytime yo
1
u/No-Transportation843 Apr 13 '26
Where is the brass going
1
u/Hour-Wallaby9515 Apr 13 '26
There is slo-mo video on their instagram highlights that shows case ejection clearly

Guys... 700 for machined aluminum in Canada isn't too bad. This is what is costs to make things locally.
13
u/Spiritual_Exit5726 Apr 12 '26
Fine but its for a godamn sks. Its not a thousand dollar rifle we're talking about. And theres still $400 of shit to add on to this
21
u/uber_poutine Apr 12 '26
If you wanted to spin up tooling and start to produce a comparable semi-auto rifle in an intermediate cartridge with a milled steel receiver, how much do you think it would retail at?
Just 'cause it's milsurp and a government paid most of that cost already doesn't mean the value isn't there, especially with the supply limitations we're seeing.
This is the unfortunate state of the market as a result of legislation. If you don't want to put your SKS in a chassis, no one is making you do it.
16
u/CurlyWurly61 Apr 12 '26
This is one of those things where I would be upset that its $790 after taxes (ontario) and need to pay shipping, buy a buttstock and grip separately ( so lets call it $1000)
BUT
I know these are going to sell out and there is no reason for you guys to lower the prices
23
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
I feel your pain guys. When you look at the economics of the Canadian market, you see our input costs are high, and our market is small so demand is low. (Relatively speaking)
Please follow and like our Instagram for special offers. You won't be disappointed.

Does the top aluminum handguard touch the gas / piston system? Or is it like a free float design?
7
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26
Nothing on the gas piston is fixed to the hand guard, but the sheet metal pinned to the tube can butt against it. There is a user configurable mounting lug that installs in the front as well.
8
u/LananasCourageux Apr 12 '26
Why not an LAR15 magwell?
8
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
Next step. We need this to go before we can release niche variants.
6
u/Nano112 Apr 12 '26
What's the weight change from wood to this chassis?
8
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
The Chassis, rails, and mounting accessories come in at 980 grams.

Thank you. Our friends at CRC have a no Bubba, field strippable chassis. We chose to lean the other way for those that like to build, fit, and tinker. All feedback is welcome, and will drive future design iterations.
1
u/AresV92 Apr 13 '26
CRC one is sold out at $450 currently so they must be doing something right. Thanks for letting me know about that option. I'll be following both yours and the CRC one.

u/Elbro_16 Apr 12 '26
Can I use a AR mag adapter with this chassis?
2
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
Not sure yet. We will update on Instagram when we know.

Does this one fit the magazines with the release latch? My TNA one does not, which sucks because thats all my magazines. This does look better over all compared to the that one.
2
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
Release Latch? We have tested with stock swing mag, and duck bill mags. (Tapco) works well with both. We are looking into the other variants as well.

Apr 12 '26
I mean these Promag ones, https://firearmsoutletcanada.com/promag-sks-magazine-w-lever-release-7-63x39-5-round.html.

u/Tk-Lea Apr 12 '26
I think the price is fine if the quality is there, would of loved to see an intergrated optic rail with the chassis.
2
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
There have been many internal discussions regarding mounting to the frame vs mounting to the action, regarding holding zero.
The rail you speak of does in fact exist, but there is hesitation to release due to the above.
3
u/Tk-Lea Apr 12 '26
Good to know it was talked about, Id like to see your option if it can hold zero well enough. POI shift should be expected in any removal part.

I'm obsessing over that scope positioning... Will it allow stripper clip top loading?
2
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 13 '26
In this configuration, it indeed accepts stripper clips. No casings hit the scope on range day.

They could’ve at least given the A2 grip like there’s billions of those around

700$ chassis for a 299$ rifle, nice!
38
u/dv20bugsmasher Apr 12 '26
If you see any decent sks going for 299 can you tell me where?
10
u/th3badwolf_1234 Apr 12 '26
Fun thing is that the gun stores haven't had new sks in decades, that 799$ sks? Yeah, they paid 150 or so for it.
7
u/buttercastle69 Apr 13 '26
Weren't those unfired French ticklers a relatively new shipment/purchase?

I have, my comment is about the actual value of an sks, not what people are paying for it.
It's a garbage gun with a garbage barrel but it's one if the few semi auto left, I get it.
0
u/Cortexian0 Apr 14 '26
This may blow your mind, but VALUE is literally what people are willing to pay for something. You may be confusing value and cost. Did you know that it doesn't actually cost Ford anywhere near $80,000 for a new F150? People still buy them for that.

You have my support! At least its not 3D printed Does it fit the SKS-D with Ak mags?
4
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
Not sure yet. Going to meet with some owners of AK mag variants in the coming weeks.

When your in a price gouging competition and your opponent is anyone making SKS parts for the canadian market
2
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 13 '26
I assure you that manufacturing did not set the retail price.
I spoke with our competitors today and they should have more stock on the market shortly. That's a good thing for everyone.

Lost me at the cost when it doesn't include accessories. At least the hush holster included a folding buttstock and a pistol grip.
1
u/the_crooked_north The Crooked North Apr 12 '26
Didn't realize Hush was compatible with AR parts.
Figured there might be a person or two with some AR parts they can no longer use sitting in their safe.
5
u/BrotherLefthand Apr 13 '26
You should have made it AR mag compatible for this price.
1
u/ImInHellFrozeOver Apr 13 '26
You do realize there’s more to making an SKS run AR mags than just the chassis? You need to mill the bolt and receiver as well. If their first chassis was AR compatible then it wouldn’t work for the much larger market of unmodified SKS’s. Hopefully this chassis sells well and they come out with an AR compatible one later to meet the minority’s needs as well. The more options on the market the better.
1
u/BrotherLefthand Apr 13 '26
You understand an SKS that has been made AR compatible is still able to run the factory magazine?
Just because the stock could accept AR magazines doesn't mean the owner has to have a milled rifle. However, it would allow an easy path forward for someone wanting to make that happen.
Looking at their design, it looks like a bit of engineering could offer both. The biggest issue would be ensuring the modifications work together. Getting a hical adapter to run in an SKS requires a bit of tweaking even if the machining is done well.
2
u/Spiritual_Exit5726 Apr 12 '26
I'll never understand turning a $300 gun ($800 now) and slapping a thousand dollars of equipment on it to make it a $300 gun you paid 2k for
