It is an easy connection for people to make, and they feel discriminated against and are angry.

National Socialism is a socialist movement, a hard Left Wing line of thinking despite what left wingers would like to believe, that typically has a centralized government that heavily taxed industry, and had total control over the people with state controlled rights. The major thing that the Nazis did was remove the arms from the people and centralize them in the hands of the government. It actually might be pretty on the mark.

Just to be clear, the nazis used pre-existing laws to disarm their opponents.

Please don't take this as defending anything the nazis did.
