Canada import from US from third party

Anybody went through the US -> Canada import process? Curious who you went with and how it went, if anyone can share any firsthand experience. How did you arrange payment? From my understanding you can't pay the seller directly but have to go through an exporter and have them pay the seller instead?

If you are using IRG then you pay and have your gun shipped to their warehouse in Arizona. IRG will take it from there

huh, their site says "If you haven't paid for your item yet, please click here to proceed:" but I guess I can safely disregard that? Probably out of date then.

Second this. I used irg some years ago. They took care of everything and resolved some paperwork issues (can't remember what, but definatkey good to have experts fillout forms). Maybe not the cheapest but definately the most experienced....

I used Prophet River. I paid for the firearm directly to the seller who shipped it to the PR FFL. They transferred it to their location in Canada and got the clearances then shipped it on to me. At the time that cost 250cad.

Yeah this is so confusing cuz PR's own site says as well "Due to Commerce department regulations, our FFL dealer now has to make all US purchases on behalf of our customers."

They also don’t do handguns anymore

The companies mentioned are great but I'll also throw in Aztech Armory. They brought in some really cool stuff when it was still legal here. Looks like they're still active based on recent reviews. But they do take ages to respond to email.

Depending on what your looking. Irunguns has bunch of stuff and is pretty easy to buy from their site. Aztech will get you anything you want parts wise I don't think they do full guns anymore they got pp slapped for p80s I believe and if not on the site you can email them item on a item on a website they can usually bring it in at a premium or check what they have instock they have usa and in canada items already.

I'm looking for firearms not on IRG's US site hence asking for import experience from third parties. But yeah Aztec looks like they aren't doing firearms anymore.

Irun has a FAQ on Canadiangunnutz about third party guns might be worth checking out

IRG hasn’t answered any of the emails I wrote in the last 2 weeks. Would be cool if they did because the process is kinda vague

Who I've used:

Aztech Armory: Reached out to them and provided the link to the website in the US for the item i was trying to buy; they emailed back and create a listing on their shop. Buy the item like any other online order - wait for the import to come in based on their import schedule.

Irunguns: Item was already listed on their website so not much to add. Paid up front and waited for item to arrive.

RDSC: Emailed them similar to Aztech armory. They don't create the listing, but will email you instructions with the cost and approximate timeline. Called in to pay deposit. I have always been given to pay either deposit or full amount up front. I believe i only paid in full once because the item was relatively inexpensive, every other time i have just done deposit so i wasn't waiting a month or two without a product in hand.

Who I haven't used (for import):

Prophet River: but have heard nothing but good things about their import process. I have purchased domestically from them in the past several times with 0 issues.

Go here: https://www.irunguns.ca/category.php?parent=Import_/_Export

Click the "from USA to Canada" link (left side, Canadian flag)

Read through this page for some general info then at the bottom where it says "if you haven't paid...click here" click the big red "Import" button.

This page will explain the process for importing from a 3rd party via IRG.

When in doubt call or email the IRG team, while I haven't ordered from them yet I have emailed them and received replies within a day or two.
