What makes you say it’s a long shot?

Because historically the courts have never been friendly to firearms ownership.

Because the government has done is absolute best to obfuscate the issue.

Because a lot of judges in this country are ideologically captured.

The funny part is, even if the scc rules in our favor. With a majority they can ram an amendment to the firearms act through the house to cook it all anyways.

This case will be more so focused on property rights rather than firearms

Did the LPC just sneak in a bill basically saying property owners can no longer negotiate when the government expropriates their property? I assume it was in preparation for the soon to be Alto boondoggle, but I worry it could also apply here.

I thought it was about the fact that the law which defines the OIC specificailly states that OICs are not to be used to prohibit firearms which are used for hunting

Someone can correct me, but I think this case is more about OICs/unchecked executive power. While the US Supreme Court seems cool with unlimited executive power recently, ours has usually been far more measured.

Hopefully, they choose to side with limiting executive authority for the sake of everyone, including our community

It's a thin majority, they need the right political climate in order to pass something big like that, so it's not automatic by any means.

I got the impression that the NDP had actually changed their stance on firearms recently, but I'm too lazy to mash my carrots on the google and figure it out

All the leadership candidates said the program was bad but the NDPs voting history says otherwise.

Would it be nice to see a left wing party supporting firearms ownership? Of course. Am I holding my breath over it? No.
