Cutting down a factory barrel below 18” is not allowed; it has to leave the factory that way.

How do we know it’s cut? Looks like front sight is on there

The muzzle is unfinished; I’ve seen many cut down shotguns in stores, and I own a 500 that’s also been cut down.

Drilling and tapping the barrel for a front sight is a quick job for a gunsmith.

AFAIK, Mossberg never made any 500 barrels below 18”. 590 yes, but not the 500.

How can you tell that the muzzle is unfinished? I have never seen that cap.

Factory muzzles do not look like that. They are radiused and blued, and the barrel walls are thinner than when they’ve been cut down from a much longer barrel.

I literally own a cut down 500, and that’s what it looks like.
