That wasn't the Supreme Court, that was the federal Court and Court of appeals.

The SCC wouldn't even look at this case if there wasn't glaring issues with the previous rulings.

Regardless, this mean the amnesty will need to be extended far beyond its current duration. Which means the LPC needs the political will to keep pushing this forward and spending money. The OIC bans could be 8+ years old before we get a ruling, and if the SCC does rule that fair market value has to be extended to everyone who wants to participate, this program will cost billions, which giving the current political climate, the government might not be able to justify.

The government is likely to some how come out on top here, but we can still be hopeful it hurts them in the process and causes them a lot of head aches.

We have to remember the SCC might be looking at this as an issue beyond gun control, it could be a big punch in the eye if the court rules the government is misusing its powers and that this gun ban sets bad precedence in other places in our laws.

I personally am hoping and think they rule on in the opinion of the Governor in council that is not reasonable for use in hunting/sporting.

Because iirc the lower courts basically said its whatever the government says it is. Which is not very good legislation practice because then you can put a tiny guard rail into any piece of Regulation power, and then start regulating anything you want without needing to follow any of the guard rail criteria.

Like if the transport minister had the power to oic ban imports of cars that are unsafe. And then only pick cars that have chinese characters in their name, regardless if they were unsafe or not because in the ministers opinion a car that has chinese characters in it is unsafe. Without any regard to if it was safe or not.

My bad, I thought it was supreme Court.

I'm still not gonna hold my breath and just assume they're as retarded and want to make sure the retardation is set as precedent.
