That wasn't the Supreme Court, that was the federal Court and Court of appeals.
The SCC wouldn't even look at this case if there wasn't glaring issues with the previous rulings.
Regardless, this mean the amnesty will need to be extended far beyond its current duration. Which means the LPC needs the political will to keep pushing this forward and spending money. The OIC bans could be 8+ years old before we get a ruling, and if the SCC does rule that fair market value has to be extended to everyone who wants to participate, this program will cost billions, which giving the current political climate, the government might not be able to justify.
The government is likely to some how come out on top here, but we can still be hopeful it hurts them in the process and causes them a lot of head aches.
We have to remember the SCC might be looking at this as an issue beyond gun control, it could be a big punch in the eye if the court rules the government is misusing its powers and that this gun ban sets bad precedence in other places in our laws.
