this would be the first preventative step that would help reduce these types of crimes from taking place.

The current measure of using “reasonable force” is relative to the homeowner’s ability to defend. What is reasonable if 5 armed men break into a family’s home without two children? What is reasonable force to defend against someone who has a ghost gun, or an illegal weapon, that most Canadians do not have access to?

I’m not a gun owner, I have a hunting license but haven’t hunted yet. I would rather not have to use a weapon on anyone, but as a soon to be father, I can’t worry about measuring the acceleration and mass of the nearest axe, hammer, or whatever I can get my hands on fast enough to calculate “reasonable force” when it comes to protecting my family and my baby.

So please, sign this petition As a preventative and protective measure for yourself and your family. Sleep a bit better knowing that we can do what we need to do, and hope we never have to do it.

Harper clarified Canadians rights to defend themselves in 2013. There is a 9 point checklist the courts use to determine a person's right to self defense, and legal analysts say it gives Canadians a stronger right to self defense than even many US states.

What PP's "conservatives" are calling "castle laws" for Canada is the presumption that any violence against a presumed intruder is justified. Which is a mechanism that can be abused six ways to sunday. But that's what you're defending.

I never said I wanted what Pepe was calling castle law (which I've actually never looked at). I would like something like what runkle outlined though.

Additionally, the issue with your argument is that if you defend yourself with a firearm in your home, even if you're in the right, you're still 100% going to jail, and it's still going to cost you six figures to get the charges dropped.

Runkles purposal is exactly what people want and if people would take the time to watch his video on it, most people would agree its reasonable, unless their just blindly tribal or plan on committing home invasions.
