Transport laws? I know this range looks ghetto but it is in fact a range. Unless there was a change i wasn't aware of, we can still shoot pistols at the range.

The law is pretty grey on the subject. My understanding is you can’t discharge a restricted anywhere but a range because of the laws surrounding transportation. You can’t take a restricted out of your case until you’re at the range as per your ATT. If you were to let’s say shoot out the window of your residence that wouldn’t be in violation. There aren’t any laws specifically prohibiting the discharge of restricted firearms.

Of course the RCMP probably won’t see it that way and I certainly can’t afford a lawyer to challenge it.

Most provinces and some municipalities have laws prohibiting discharge within a certain distance of a dwelling.

That doesn’t effect you if you’re shooting in a building that you are occupying IE hunting beside your own house
